How to care for a custom shucker: as good as the materials are there is some common sense care rules:

1. do not put it in the dishwasher! The heat will destroy the poor thing.

2. Wash it by hand and put it away dry.

3. Wax or oil the handle occasionally. Danish oil, tung oil, polyurethane wipe on, linseed oil, you get the idea. Paste wax helps protect it. If it gets rough some steel wool would help.
